A Christmas break visit with friends on the island yielded some beautiful walks along the rugged waterfront of southern Vancouver Island. We never tire of this landscape, wild and beautiful, and wonderfully accessible. In the first photo, the retreating waves leave a reflective sheen coating the sand. In the second, a graceful arbutus tree reaches out from the forest over the rocky shore. Finally, another arbutus twists its way up amongst the towering Douglas firs.
